Conservation status: Vulnerable

Size: 18 cm

The fairy pitta’s striking plumage – electric blue highlights, vibrant red breast, and green coat – excites the minds of children and adults alike. It breeds in Taiwan, Southern Japan and Jeju Island in South Korea. During autumn, it migrates to Borneo to dazzle and impress endemic species with its colours.
